Cedar Bluff completed the 2016 season with a 8-4 record. Last year Cedar Bluff captured the region six title and a number one seed in the Class 1A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Cedar Bluff reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Decatur Heritage Christian by a score of 42-41. The Tigers hope to get back closer to the 13-2 record in 2015. Over the past two seasons the Tigers have gone 21-6 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Cedar Bluff has gone a combined 57-27. Their 68.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 1A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Cedar Bluff has gone a combined 204-98. Their 68.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 1A and 35th in the AHSAA. The Tigers are led by head coach Jonathan McWhorter who is entering his twelveth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 94-41 over the past eleven seasons at Cedar Bluff. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of ten times. They have won four region crowns with Coach McWhorter. Coach McWhorter's overall record as a head football coach in eleven season stands at 94-41 (69.6%). If Cedar Bluff can win six games this season, Coach McWhorter will reach the 100 win milestone. The Cedar Bluff Tigers will play in Class 1A region six during the 2017 season. The Tigers should be considered one of the favorites for the region six championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. Junior Ivory Starr returns after rushing for 617 yards on 97 carries and scoring 9 touchdowns. The Tigers open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent North Sand Mountain on Friday, September 1 at Lloyds Dobbins Field. Last year the North Sand Mountain Bison finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in second place in Class 3A region seven. The Bison lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Lexington by a score of 25-14. Cedar Bluff and North Sand Mountain have met a total of 9 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 3-6-0 record against the Bison. They last met in 1993 with Cedar Bluff winning by a score of 49-3. Cedar Bluff returns 1A All-State Senior defensive back Isaiha Jones. He was named to the second team last season. The Tigers also return Junior linebacker Ross Johnson.
